Understanding how to work on my mindset has enabled me to achieve huge success since launching my business 8 months ago. I’ve made over six figures in my business during that time.
I have also supported my clients to create life-changing, transformational results. We have co-created results in their businesses that they never thought possible before working together.
I’ve created this blog post to support you to develop a mindset for success. The mindset shifts and tools I am about to share have enabled me to truly create the life and business of my dreams.
Your mindset is made up of a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. This is what in turn influences how you think, feel, and act.
What you believe about yourself impacts your success and your mindset determines your achievements. In short, what you believe, you achieve. You can create whatever you allow yourself to believe you can create.
It is inevitable that you will face challenges throughout life, both personally and professionally. Challenges will come through all stages of your business development but how you support yourself and your mindset in these circumstances will dictate how these challenges affect you.
This is why I have created this blog post. I want to share the mindset shift and tools that are going to enable you to start working on your mindset and set yourself up for success.
Staying in your comfort zone will keep you stuck, so if you want to experience growth, you have to step out of your comfort zone. Putting yourself in new or challenging situations enables you to grow.
I have talked about this before in my blog post on self-confidence – our brains are designed to seek familiarity and they don’t like the unknown. So, when you decide to do something new that pushes you out of your comfort zone, it’s totally normal to feel self-doubt or fear.
The idea of putting yourself in new or challenging situations is that you can start to feel more confident when you have overcome challenges and pushed past the fear. I want to encourage you to do a little experiment. This week, do something you feel nervous about. Perhaps it’s posting a video of yourself on your Instagram stories or reaching out to a potential client.
When you do this, you might feel uncomfortable but I want you to know that this is a natural part of growth, so practice self-compassion if you’re feeling uncomfortable. Remember that every time you take this action, it becomes easier.
If you feel stuck in your business or you’re not sure how to move past your mindset blocks, I recommend downloading my free training – The Psychology of Business Success. You’ll learn more about the most common psychological blocks that are preventing us from creating the success we desire.
I also recommend reading this blog post if you want to learn more about cultivating a success mindset in business.
The next mindset shift I want you to make is to start viewing failure as feedback and a learning opportunity. When you reframe failure as feedback, you don’t fear it anymore. You’ll start to see it as an opportunity to learn and grow.
In fact, every challenge or failure is an opportunity to grow. There is always some lesson you can find. Someone with a growth mindset embraces challenges and desires to learn new things. So, develop a mindset that views failure as an experience to learn from. By reframing failure, you’ll find it easier to take risks.
If there’s something you feel called to do, but you haven’t done it because you’re afraid of failure, I want to encourage you to go and do that thing. Don’t let fear of failure stop you from pursuing something you desire.
What you consume plays a significant role in your mindset. We are influenced by the people we spend time with and the conversations we have with them. Surround yourself with people who can teach you new things and those who encourage you to grow.
First, start to become aware of the limiting belief systems that the people around you may have, and remind yourself that this is just one way to view things. Affirm to yourself that you deserve to have more, to expand and to grow.
Start to look for people who truly inspire you or who have the life you want. Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to them, but instead use them as inspiration to realise your own potential. If you see someone having something you aspire to have, it’s an indication of what’s possible for you.
I want you to start noticing your inner dialogue. Your inner dialogue is quite simply your thoughts or how you speak to yourself. It is the voice in your head that comments on your life, whether that is what is going on around you, or what you are thinking consciously or subconsciously.
Start to become aware of your thoughts, especially those related to fears, insecurities and things you find stressful or irritating. Becoming aware of these thoughts is key – it’s the first step to cultivating a more positive inner dialogue.
Then, start to purposely cultivate a self-compassionate inner dialogue – talk to yourself daily as you would to a friend. Reframe negative thoughts into positive ones. If you’d like to learn more about challenging your negative thoughts, check out my blog post on self-doubt.
There is such a huge difference in how you approach life and challenges when you work on your mindset daily. There are a number of daily mindset practices you can commit to to support you on your mindset journey.
Daily mindset practices will help you to cultivate a positive mindset and tap into your highest self, the version of yourself beneath all your fears and insecurities.
I recommend committing to a mindset practice a minimum of three times a day and ensuring you stay consistent with it to support your growth. Try starting with a morning, lunchtime and evening routine.
Choose any mindset practices you feel inspired to do. These are some of my favourites: vibration raises, journaling, affirmations, visualisation and future scripting.
These journal prompts will help you reflect on your current mindset and set yourself up for success.
Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements that help you overcome fears and negative thought patterns. Repeated use of affirmations is a powerful way to work on your mindset and create new neural pathways in your brain to support the highest version of you.
Affirmations help you focus on your positive qualities, instead of the negative. Repeating your affirmations daily helps you to reinforce the neural pathways that support the highest version of you, instead of focusing on what you feel you lack.
Using affirmations is one daily mindset practice I recommend to all my clients so try to repeat affirmations as much as possible.
When you push yourself out of your comfort zone, it’s so important to have some self-care practices to take care of yourself and soothe your body, mind, and nervous system. For this, you can find self-care tips and download my 7-day self-care challenge on my blog post on self-care.
